Principle of function of TH110 sensor

Dear experts!

I need to know how does TH110 get the temperature data.

Our team is working on a presentation of the thermal control solution for our customers and we´d like to give them a deeper explanation of the sensor.

Is it using an electromagnetic induction principle or is it obtained just by the measuring point by simple contact with the surface?

Hello@Veronika1,

Please note that this community do not cover temperature sensors only Power Meters.

I cannot give to much details but I can answer some questions.

How does TH110 get the temperature data ?

Is it using an electromagnetic induction principle or is it obtained just by the measuring point by simple contact with the surface?

=> There is a thermal sensor with a metallic pad on the bottom of the TH110.

=> This pad is put in direct contact with the surface to measure

=> TH110 is using magnetic field to power supply its internal electronics with the magnetic ribbon (unlike the CL110 using a battery).

FAQs

What is the TH110 temperature sensor? ›

Easergy TH110 is a wireless sensor that enables the continuous thermal condition monitoring of all the critical connections made on the field, such as: cables, withdrawable Circuit Breakers (CB) and busbar connections. Easergy TH110 is self powered by the network current.

What is the basic working principle of a sensor? ›

Sensors work by detecting physical changes in the device's environment and output them as analogue voltages or digital signals. This is then sent to a human-readable display where it can be monitored or transmitted, or relayed to other electronic devices for further processing.

What are the working principles of temperature sensor? ›

Temperature sensors work by measuring the voltage across the diode terminals. As the voltage rises, so does the temperature, and then a voltage drop occurs between the transistor terminals and the emitter (in the diode). There are different types of sensors, which are classified according to their connections.

What does the temp sensor control? ›

Its function is to monitor the engine's operating temperature. The vehicle's Engine Control Module (ECM) uses this information, along with inputs from the oxygen sensor(s), to determine when the engine is warm enough to enter closed-loop feedback fuel control.

What does a temperature sensor sense? ›

What are Temperature Sensors? Temperature sensors are devices that detect and measure coldness and heat and convert it into an electrical signal. Temperature sensors are utilized in our daily lives, be it in the form of domestic water heaters, thermometers, refrigerators, or microwaves.

What is the basic function of a sensor? ›

A sensor is a device that detects the change in the environment and responds to some output on the other system. A sensor converts a physical phenomenon into a measurable analog voltage (or sometimes a digital signal) converted into a human-readable display or transmitted for reading or further processing.

What is the physical principle used by the sensor? ›

The working principle of resistive sensors is based on the change in electrical resistance that occurs when the sensor's material is subjected to changes in a physical quantity. For example, in a temperature-sensitive resistor (or thermistor), the resistance changes with temperature.

What is the principle of active sensor? ›

Active sensors have their own energy source for illumination for the features to be investigated. The energy reflected from the target feature is recorded by the active sensor. Therefore, one of the main advantages of active sensors is their ability to record energy anytime, regardless of the time of day or season.

What is the function of the temperature sensor? ›

A temperature sensor is a device that is designed to measure the degree of hotness or coolness in an object. The working of a temperature meter depends upon the voltage across the diode. The temperature change is directly proportional to the diode's resistance.

How to check if a temperature sensor is working or not? ›

To test a temperature sensor with a multimeter, set it to measure resistance, clip one probe to an outer sensor connector and the other across from it. Submerge in hot then ice water, note readings after a few seconds - around 250 and 1000 ohms respectively.

What is the working principle of weather sensor? ›

It works on a principle similar to a bistatic radar, noting the passage of droplets, or flakes, between a transmitter and a sensor. These instruments in automatic weather stations are used to simulate the observation taken by a human observer.

What is temperature sensor ds18s20? ›

What is the battery temperature sensor for? ›

In the few gasoline and diesel powered SUVs and light trucks that employ a battery temperature sensor, data from the sensor is used to adjust the rate of battery charge to avoid overheating.

What is temperature sensor TMP112? ›

The TMP112 family is designed for extended temperature measurement in communication, computer, consumer, environmental, industrial, and instrumentation applications. The device is specified for operation over a temperature range of –40°C to 125°C.
